Cultural Competency in Health Care

Addressing cultural competency issues is an important piece of ensuring access to health care.

We at Cascades East AHEC feel the information that follows in this section can be of great value.

As we work together to address the new challenges posed by an increasing non-English speaking or low-English proficiency population in our communities, this information provides some insights that may help shine light on the problems of language barriers in healthcare.

We did not develop this material and any questions about the material should be directed to the Hablamos Juntos staff. For more information about current initiatives by Cascades East AHEC to address these issues, feel free to send us an e-mail or call our staff.

The following information has been developed by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Hablamos Juntos Program. It is also available on their website at www.hablamosjuntos.org. The RWJ Hablamos Juntos Program is located at the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute at Claremont College in Claremont, CA.
