Job Shadowing/Health Occupations Orientation Days for High School Students:

Students wanting to job shadow at the hospital must complete required orientation elements in order to meet hospital, state and national requirements. Cascades East AHEC hosts a job shadowing program at St. Charles Medical Center for students to enable them to participate in job shadowing in the hospital setting. Students are required to get a TB test, complete safety, confidentiality, communication, and other sessions to become acquainted with the hospital and expectations for job shadowing. The orientation sessions are only available a few times each year, so if you are interested in participating in shadowing at the hospital in a particular semester, you should mark down the orientation closest to when you plan to shadow. Many schools offer college credit for participating in formal health occupations classes or count the job shadowing toward CAM requirements. Many other community medical providers have told us they are willing to take students who complete this orientation for job shadowing. The orientation is scheduled for days when students across Oregon are released for teacher in-services or holidays, to enable students to attend without missing classes. Registration forms will be posted on this site at least one month prior to the deadline for registration. Classes may fill early, before the registration deadline. Priority provided to students in formal health occupations programs/classes within their school district. (Mt. View HS Health Occupations students are required to attend the Fall orientation; Bend HS Health Occupations II students are required to take the January orientation.)
