HEALTH OCCUPATIONS

Cascades East AHEC hosts the Health Occupations program at St. Charles Health System (SCHS) for high school students. Students wanting to explore careers at St. Charles Health System must go through their school’s programming to participate.

- Students must be participating in their school’s programming in conjunction with CEAHEC (Health Occupations class, Biomedical Foundations class, CTE class, or Career-Future counseling program)
- Schools must have affiliation agreements with SCHS.
- Limited to upper classman (Seniors only at St. Charles Bend campus).
- TB testing is required.
- Between December 1st- April 1st, students are highly encouraged to receive a flu shot prior to shadowing. If students elect not to receive a flu shot, they should wear a mask during shadowing.
- COVID vaccination is highly encouraged, but not mandated.
- Schools will be invoiced $25 per student to help cover the cost of TB supplies
1. Review the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct linked below
2. Sign and complete the 3 required waivers. Fill out digitally or print off and complete. If you are filling out digitally, please be aware that we need signatures (not typed in names) on any signature line.
3. Submit your application, uploading digital copies of your 3 signed waiver forms and your covid vaccination card (if you are vaccinated).
4. Review required training modules and be ready to take a short quiz on each to demonstrate understanding prior to starting rotations.
5. Attend the MANDATORY St. Charles orientation to become acquainted with the hospital health system and expectations for job shadowing.
6. You will be assigned a debrief date after shadowing is finished to return badges, thank caregivers, and complete an evaluation. Record this date and ensure you can attend the debrief.

Complete the three mandatory waiver forms below. You may print these forms off, or fill out digitally. Please note that if you fill out digitally, you need digital signatures (not typed in names) on every signature line. Be prepared to upload these waivers to your application.
